Road Safety Programme
Despite improvements road safety during the last, more than 27,000 people lost their lives approximately 1,5 millions were injured on Europe's roads. The ERF Road Safety Programme serves to promote the important contribution the road infrastructure can provide in making our roads safer.

The ERF Infrastructure Safety Forum
The Infrastructure Safety Forum is an initiative launched by the European Union Road Federation (ERF) as part of its commitments towards better road safety. The Forum hosts discussions aimed at highlighting the life-saving potential of safer road engineering.
In 2004-20012, the ERF Infrastructure Safety Forum has held the following roundtable discussions:
- AFB 20 (2) the AFB20(2) Subcommittee on International Research Activities - 11 April 2013
- ERF Panel Discussion "Road Infrastructure and Road safety" - 23 November 2011
- New challenges ahead - 14 December 2010
- New Solutions to reduce the number of fatalities on European roads - 19 November 2008
- The Safety Benefits of Harmonised Road Signs and Markings - 10 January 2007
- A Directive on Road Infrastructure Safety Management - 23 October 2006
- Passive safety that matters - 30 May 2006
- Innovative approaches in safe road management - 28 February 2006
- Preventive hazard identification - 11 October 2005
- Motorcyclist safety: how can better road engineering help? - 15 March 2005
- Road equipment standardisation - state of play and future perspectives - 22 April 2004
- The Infrastructure Safety Roundtable - 22 April 2004 - in association with World Health Day 2004
Training Workshops
ERF firmly believes in the value of sharing "best in Europe" know-how and is offering road authorities in Central & Eastern Europe an opportunity to familiarise themselves with successful road engineering practices through a series of "on demand" training workshops.
The guiding principles behind these workshops is to offer a comprehensive overview of the safety contribution of better designed, built and operated road networks through interactive presentations delivered by some of Europe's foremost road safety professionals.
